Is anyone watching The Good Wife? I am not normally a court room drama fan but this show is quite good. I really like Alicia's character and Margulies acting of the character. There are times where you can see the character is unsure of herself but yet she doesn't get walked over. Usually it is black and white with female characters they are either the overconfident stare the other person down type or they are a complete push over. I also like Kalinda's character as the kick-ass female friend and I think the teenage son is also very interesting.

I agree. I don't like procedurals, but am surprised to find that this one is well done. Even though each week it's a simple story of the good guys always winning, it's enjoyable. Julianna Margulies is impossibly beautiful... she wasn't shown to as much advantage on ER. I like the sidekick investigator too.
They're even doing shades of gray with the cheating husband, which I wouldn't have expected. It's looking like he might not have been corrupt at all.

I'm hopelessly behind, but I enjoy it too. Noth, Margulies, my Josh Charles, what's not to like? The courtroom drama is a bit rote, but I like the added level of her being a little (but well-known) fish in a big, occasionally slimy pond. Even the kids are decent. I should catch up on this after my quarter is over - it's one of the few shows this season that's held my interest.
Oh, and Margulies clearly has a deal with the devil. Or she's a cyborg. Like Marisa Tomei, she has only grown more preternaturally beautiful as she's aged.

I just got caught up on this show and am also finding I like it quite a lot. I wish I had the lead character's ability to keep my mouth shut when it's best to do so, definitely envious of that. I like the balance they're striking between the arcing story and the weekly changing one. Most shows really screw this area up so I guess I'm just pleasantly surprised to find one with good sense.

Finally got (sort of) caught up on this show. I think I missed a few episodes, because my TIVO lost its connection for a while, but the only plot point I was taken unawares by was the missing assistant, so, I'm fairly on track.
I'm liking it even more, especially with the potential that my Josh isn't such a good guy. I love the way they are playing that, because he's obviously attracted to her, probably has been since college (who wouldn't be), but he's not quite sleazy (or stupid) enough to just hit on her. And she obviously likes him and feels a lot of affection, so if he is truly dirty I think her feelings of betrayal would be pretty intense (although, as she pointed out to the always fun Martha Plimpton, "I'm vaccinated").
I also like the way they play her as a parent. Her response to her son when he tried to drag her into a screaming match after she moved the computer was great - I hope I'm that cool under pressure some day.

Just seen the first episode of this. I thought Margulies was really good at playing that character and there were some very nice details - the slight undercurrent of leftover student crush from the guy who hired her, the thread thing in the opening press conference and they didn't overplay the idea that she's bringing in her homemaker skills to talk to people and get clues. It seemed like she got right back into the swing of litigation very quickly for someone who'd not practised for years, but then I wouldn't have wanted to watch her being inept and making obvious mistakes. Not so sure about the legal cases o' the week aspect though, like Eej I'm not big on procedurals and I could see this getting to bore me. It's the family stuff, Mr Big and his replacement/rival and the possible hook up with the boss guy that interest me more. Also thought Archie Panjabi was good and seemed to have the accent down very well.

I didn't know she was British, so yes, she passed. I did notice something formal about her way of speaking.

I think part of what makes the show work is they don't allow the story they're trying to tell get waylaid by the procedure aspect of the show. So far they're still doing a good job balancing the pacing and keeping things generally believable. I am enjoying watching the relationships between Alicia and Kalinda, and Alicia and Diane grow and change.

Ah, yes, I thought she spoke a little strange but I just attributed it to the characters quirkiness.

I'm not totally sold on her - the character's whole tough-girl thing isn't quite working for me. But I'm sort of enjoying the fact that Cary really doesn't have a shot with her - this is not another "I hate you until I love you" romance - it's really not going to happen. And she certainly keeps things interesting with her little triple-agent routine.
I prefer her as a friend to Alicia than as any of her other roles, though. I hope that's not all about angling for a better bargaining position with Chris Noth and the DA.

This show is starting in Australia tonight, and I'm really looking forward to it. Sounds like it hasn't disappointed people yet - always a good sign.

No, it's been solid. Great cast, decent writing, and a timely hook.

Really enjoyed it - glad that I watched. The performances were strong, Josh Charles was hot (there has to be some shallow) and the story is interesting. Will be tuning in again. I'll be interested to see how it rated here.
