I just received an e-mail from devi who said that she's been unable to bring up the site for the past couple days, and before that was having lots of problems getting the site to come up. All the rest of her sites come up fine though.
Is anyone else having problems? Particularly anyone else in Australia? If anyone is friends with someone who is normally around a lot, but hasn't been in the past week, could you drop them a line and make sure they're not having problems as well?
Thanks.

I've been having a few over here (UK). I'd just put it down to the fact that I've started using mine again, which is tempremental at the best of times. I don't knoiw about anybody else over here though.

I've had no problems here in the UK at home (Win98/IE) or at work (Linux/Netscape and Win2k/IE).

Are any of the other Aussies using bigpond.com as their ISP?

It's 7:50am on Monday in Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane, so I'd imagine most of the hard-core Wingnuts will be into work and logging in within the next hour or two. Wave your arms in the air to let us know if you're okay, okay?
(No, no affiliation with bigpond - it might be "big" this fish has needs, y'know!?)

I had a few probs getting in tonight, but managed after about five minutes of clicking on the link. Dunno why.

Now that I've had my second coffee, I remember that I was having problems with what looked like timeout errors late last week. It was only on TVR - other sites not effected. I ignored it, because sheer persistence always seemed to pay off, and all would be fine eventually. Is this the problem others are having?

I got in first try so if there was a problem it seems to be over.

I'm in through the proxy server kindly provided by Veda. It's slow, but it works. Many thanks for the help - I was starting to feel really isolated!

I'm in the same boat as AA. I just got in using the anomimizer that Veda suggested. I can't get in using the standard URL.

Actually, I've been having a few issues today. My connection has been dropping in and out like a severed head bobbing for apples. Veda, the error is the one I think I emailed to you yesterday, and usually occurs when I am submitting a post. It doesn't seem to be happening on other sites, so not sure why "ours" is being kicked! The workaround is to keep trying until I get back in.
Anyway, I'm on early shift today, so am off home for a nap before WKY at 10:30pm.

I'm sure you don't want to hear this, but now you're having problems Stateside too. No biggie, but I couldn't get the site to load at all a few hours ago — from about 9 to 10 p.m. Pacific. No error message; just the endless stopwatch. And some balking at loading a page or two once I did get on.

I've been having a bit of that over the last couple of hours as well. The page comes back as not found after a long time but then if I reload it will often load straight away.

I'm also having trouble posting - sometimes it won't post at all, other times it takes some time, but will eventually get there.

Huh. Now I'm getting "connection refused by the server" problems. Generally giving it a minute and trying again is all it takes and I get there in the end, but all other sites I've tried are fine.

I'm having the few odd connection problems, posting problems, and when I hit "refresh" its taking me back to a page that is a couple of hours old.

So, if you're still having any sort of connection problem raise your hand!
I'm thinking it might be in our best interest to switch hosts back to vervehosting.com. They host erratic.ws, my personal site and where tvrefugee was for the first few months of its existance. Right now they have a deal where we can get double the space we have now (100 megs) for a dollar less a month than we're paying now. So that's a good deal, plus I know they're more reliable with uptime. Only negative is that the board might be down a day or two while we switch over. So I'm looking to see how many people are currently having down times anyway.
(As if to answer my own question, I'm having problems connecting to post this very message!!)

Veda, I've been having problems (not just bigpond ones). Sometimes I have difficulties getting in, and then have difficulties posting. Ironically, though, today everything seems to be fine.

Ok here so far today but I'll let you know if that changes. I'd be happy to suffer a few days board-less-ness if you want to change hosts - sounds like too good a deal to pass up!

Veda, there's a little American flag on your post. Is it new, or am I less observant than others? (Don't worry, I make up for it with cunning and guile.)
It's ridiculously quiet on the boards today, so I'm assuming that people are having problems. I'm not on bigpond, and I'm also not having problems....but there's no-one to play with! WAHHH!
Veda

Yes, go into your control panel and you can choose where your from and it will give you a flag. I was just playing with it so it's only on the blue skin.

I've been having connection problems all day. The server can't be found. This is my work connection and I had the problems last time so I can only assume I'm on Bigpond.
I didn't even think of giving the proxy anonymizer thingy a go until just now.

trifling_matter, you have a flag, a very stylish Union Jack.

Trifling_matter, the flags are only displayed on the blue skin right now.
I e-mailed bigpond support yesterday. I never heard back from them, but I wonder if they fixed something.

And now I see of course that you actually said that it only worked on the Blue skin in your first flag-related post. Sorry for the dim-wittedness.
