So I'm just testing out this chat software we've got on the board.
Come over and play here:
http://www.tvrefugee.com/chatYou don't have to register, you can just leave the password field blank.
Not sure if I'm going to keep this, but I'd like to test it out and see if it takes up a lot of resources.

Loving this chat thing. Especially since the computer at the house I'm staying at doesn't have AOL.

So would anyone be interested in scheduling some chat times?
I know where we're all international it'll be a little tough, but it could be fun.

I'm up for it. If people arrange a time I'll try and be there, as long its not like 3am or something during the week.

Sure, count me in.
The Aussie gang went through a period a couple of weeks ago when we were in chat al day every day, but stoopid things like real life and work took over.

So what are good days and times for people?Do you all prefer weekends or week days better?
Would you like to see show specific chats? Say, Thursday is Buffy/Angel chat day, and each locality could meet at say 8 pm in their local time - or in the case of N. America, would 9est/6pacif work for people or is that too early for the west coasters? People from other localities come in during that time but be aware conversation would focus around whatever seasons is playing in the local area. Does that make sense?
Or we could have just general chat times, hopefully at least 1 a week that is convient for each time zone, and who ever shows up can decide the conversation.
Does anyone have other suggestions?

I like the idea of a general chat, since that would give me a chance to get to know the people outside the West Wing clique better. I think it's a fabulous idea, Veda.

Nov 17 2002, 05:41 PM
Sounds good to me. I know that we're up late in the Uk, we can usually just catch the early risers in Australia. It'd be nice to chat to some of the rest of the gang!

Okay, I declare the first international 'fugee chat to be on Sunday/Monday November 24/25. The chat will begin on 11/24 at 3 p.m. pacific, 6 p.m. est, 11pm in the UK, 11/25 9 a.m. in Queensland AU. Hopefully anyone in a time zone not listed here can convert to the right time.
I nomimate Heatherbelle and BJC to each pick a few times over the next month to have chats that are convient to their respective country-folk. Announce the time here and put it on the calendar. =-O

Woo hoo!! 9 a.m. works fine for me!
Heatherbelle
Nov 19 2002, 04:24 AM
Dude, you're giving me responsibility? Heh
the 11pm timeframe for the international chats work fine for me.
As for the national chats - if people have a preference for a certain time, let me know. Myself, I'd plump for an evening spot, cos that's when I can get online for a decent amount of time, but if there is a better time for the rest of you, I'm happy with that.

K, well for those of us below QLD, does it mean it's 10am our time? coz aren't you ahead of us now timewise with Daylight savings? or have I just lost the plot? could go either way.
This should be fun.
Veda
Nov 19 2002, 03:23 PM
Here is a converter. It's set for the correct chat time, just choose your local on the left hand side to see where it is where you are.
Australia has some funky time zone breakups!
Heatherbelle
Nov 19 2002, 03:32 PM
That is seriously funky time zones.
Wheras everyone else relates back to Greenwich Mean Time, which is easy for us Uk'ers. I've stood across the meridan there - it's very cool. Of course I was there when I was about 7 or 8 when we lived not far away.

Okay, now I just have to work out how I classify this time in my work calendar. Meeting to discuss international repercussions of learning & development strategic paradigms, perhaps?

The mass-chat sounds like much fun. H, if you remember could you kick me by email on Saturday to remind me about it? I am totally seive-brained at the moment.
Admitting you have a problem is half the battle I hear! Can't remember for the life of me who said that...
Heatherbelle
Nov 20 2002, 05:07 PM
will attempt to remember virtual kick up the arse on Saturday. If I remember... Anybody else, feel free to remind me! As I too have the brien of a sieve.

Since the chat seemed to go well at that time slot I've scheduled 2 more.
December 8(9) and December 22(23). 11pm GMT, everyone else can figure their time from that.
Heatherbelle
Nov 26 2002, 07:42 AM
So glad that GMT is us. Trying to figure out the time differences always gets me confused.

Nov 26 2002, 05:46 PM
Well the first one is the day I start my new job so I won't be there! But I'm on holidays for the second one, so I will be around for that.

QUOTE Were the majority of them guests? I have no idea: I wasn't here. (hmm, that's a strange concept). Anyway, on the forum index page it says there were 48 inmates online yesterday at 6:09pm (that would be GMT, I think).

Sorry guys, FertWorld computers rolled over and died at about 6:30am, and we were out for almost 6 hours. As Beej so eloquently texted me last night, "Oh Crap", and "No Sh*t". Maybe next time. When is that again?
BJC
Dec 21 2002, 05:56 PM
Just a reminder that there is another scheduled chat coming up.
22nd (US & Europe)/ 23rd (Australia).

Oh yayy! Today, we are boss-free at FertWorld. Yeah - no-one's in charge. Well, I am, sort-of. So here I sit, at 6:35am, with the brilliant mj's TWW Soundtrack playing. I have brought us mini-Christmas cakes (the tuckshop is closed for two weeks) and am vastly looking forward to chatting!

Sorry I left a couple of times without warning, the first time the power went out over the entire Sunshine Coast and the second time the computer had a spack attack.
