So, now that the end is nigh—albeit nigher for some of us than others—I’d like to know how everyone is planning on watching and marking the passing of Buffy.
A friend and I are getting together in London to watch the finale, with champagne and Buffy-themed nibbles (if we (or you) can think of any) and our partners banished, or at least sworn to silence.
Is it possible to discuss this without actual show spoilers? I hope so.

I gather that there's going to be an End of Buffy Night at Page's bar in London, which could be fun, but I think it's scheduled for the 24th May, which suggests that it's for the end of Buffy in the US (i.e. is aimed at wild-feed watching spoiler whores) rather than the end of Buffy on Sky in the UK. I'll look for a link, though, for those in the South of England who might be interested.

I haven't made any particular plans yet. I haven't decided whether I want to be alone (or with just Regis) or in a big group--I can always join the school group I generally watch with. My guess is I won't decide until the last day or so.

Oh, that could be interesting, Pages is pretty close to my work. I've never been in there, though, all the Klingons scare me off. And I definitely don't want to be spoiled by overheard conversations!

I remain totally envious of London genre fans for having a place like Page's to go to. :)

I can't find any links that say more than "there'll be an End of Buffy Night at Pages Bar on the 24th", which we know.
I agree, Mirren, that the Trekkie side to Pages has tended to put me off, but I gather the Buffy/Angel dos are pretty good. I won't be going to this because of the utter and guaranteed spoilage factor, but I should think that I'll be able to gather a few like-minded fans around me for the final ep when it airs.

When is the final episode being aired over here?

I will be watching at home, with the slight hope that it doesn't suck, and hoping a Scooby dies, just to make it interesting.
It airs May 20th.

I have a final at 8 a.m. the next morning. Needless to say I will not be doing any celebrating.

I'm planning to have a whole lot of Buffy people from the other board over at my place for a bit of a party. Its scheduled to air here July 14th.
Most of us are spoiled to the eyeballs and are getting together for brunch on the 25th, so I imagine there will be a fair bit of finale discussion going on then.
Its on really late here, 10:30pm, so what a shame I've got the following day off work anyway!!! (That's if Channel 7 stick to a regular programming schedule).

I can't decide what I want to do - I think I'd rather watch it on my own and just wallow. Only, it's rather unfortunate for once that we'll see Angel straight after here. Because it'll dilute the impact of it being the very last BTVS and, I fear, it might overshadow it in quality - although I do believe that however bad the season's been, Whedon will pull something out of the air and make the finale powerful. It may be an unearned powerful, the kind that on reflection afterwards you think didn't make sense, but I think he'll manage to sweep us up in it. Anyway, I'll be logging on here right after, of course. And possibly sniffling.

I also will be riding my sofa solo. Wearing taffeta, as chenille would not go with my complexion.

I will be wallowing on my lonesome, because I can't convince anyone to watch with me. Apparently I take the series too seriously. Who fucking knew?
I'm so sad that this year of college ends THE DAY BEFORE the finale. I've watched every ep this season with the same group of people, give or take. I'll MISS them.

So inconsiderate. You should get new friends.
I will being watching the same way as usual - on my laptop, on my own, in the dark. This has become my ritual. The ep gets downloaded as soon as possible, has to be watched in the dark and listened to through headphones becuase it has more impact that way.
I will also be warning my family that a fate worse than watching endless re-runs of
Doublemeat Palace will befall them if they disturb me.

I'm watching with a whole bunch of fellow Buffy fans. I'm going to have to bring a gag or something, for myself, so I don't disturb everyone else's watching by snarking or laughing at it. I expect to be gesticulating wildly though.

I will be spending the day hoping that my flight will arrive on time (6:15 PM), then waiting impatiently for my luggage, then rushing home. I will be spending Monday and Tuesday this week fretting over whether basketball playoffs will pre-empt this week's episode ( I don't think so, but...) because I'm leaving for vacation very early Wednesday morning.
What kind of idiot plans her vacation during season finales?

I think there's an entry in the psychiatric index about wanting to have the Season Five logo tattooed on your arm.
If I were to tattoo anything on myself at this point, it would be, "Stop hurting me, Mutant Enemy." Or, right on my forehead (spoilery for the non-current),

What is the season 5 logo, anyway? One of the suggestions in the thread was that she should get the grr! arrgh! monster instead.
Think she may live to regret it either way.

The season 5 logo is the one with the B, V and S intertwined, as seen
here.

I just realized that tonight, after I switch my VCR's Buffy program from weekly to May 20th, I will never again be taping an episode of Buffy. As Oz would say, huh.

The banner ad has just changed, this one made me cry more!
ETA: An Aussie poster at the other board wrote this:
"And I was sitting there watching a new Buffy and then I had this thought that, I'll never watch a new Buffy episode again, and I'll never get a new storyline or character or failed season plot device, and I don't understand, and no one. Will tell me. Why."

It's tonight?!?! My GOD. I hadn't actually realised and it feels freaky.
I hope (for my own sake too) that it's everything we desire. Or at least that someone looks hot.

I'm quite relieved that this is the last Buffy night ever. At this point discussing the show completely outshadows watching the show, and the steady decline of the writing has made "Buffy" feel like a monkey on my back.
I will get my Tuesday nights back. Yay!

Yeah, I'm with Boliver - I'm ready for it to go. I'm hoping that tonight's episode will feel like _Buffy_ and let me walk away happy, kind of a la The Gift. (I mean, I had issues with The Gift, but at least it felt right.)
Actually, I accepted an invitation to go over to a friend's house for dinner tonight. I suspect I'll leave earlyish, though.

Yeah, I know I should feel something, but I don't really. There are a lot of things on the plate today, and I keep forgetting about Buffy entirely.
I suppose my only concern is that we make it through without them killing everybody. Or anybody. It's like, if peeps we love are going to die, they only have 10 hours left and we only have 10 hours left in a world with them in it. Well, assuming that I'm assuming the last three seasons actually happened.

I'm still agnostic on that myself. A lot is hanging on tonight! And yet, I'm so much more psyched for Smallville.
Hm. I wanted to print out the cut-out Grr Argh dude in multiplicate for folks tonight. But I can't find that link. Anyone?
Aw, I think it was the link at
